She’ll Make a Move

The Spring Formal started at seven and ended at eleven. This was Elmire’s first high school dance. There was a lot to do and she wasn’t sure how to approach things. Should she dance first? Eat? Take photos? Show off her outfit? Vote for Spring Formal Court? Chat?

During the 7 o’clock hour, she stuck with her closest friends, following them to the dance floor, where everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The group took a break because Brett wanted photos. His photography skills were still lacking, but he tried.

Then, they snacked on the refreshments and sat down to let Carrie rest her feet. Before Elmire could join them, Dominic snagged her seat.

Dominic: Hey, what’s up? Let me chill with you guys for a moment. How’s it going?

Luke: Actually, that’s El—.

Dominic: Hold on. I have to check my phone.

Dominic: Now, what were you saying?

Luke: That’s Elmire’s seat.

Dominic: No, it’s fine. She can sit somewhere else.

Dominic forced them to engage in friendly conversation for a few minutes. It was awkward, but no one was particularly rude.

Elmire: Will you get out of my seat? Thanks. Bye.

The dance team’s moment of brief annoyance was quickly rectified by Elmire telling Dominic to get up. It irked her that he tried to be friendly with everyone, including Brett, while telling her that she couldn’t be friends with them and that it was pointless for her to try.

Anyway, it was a minor blip on what had otherwise been a great night so far.

When the music changed and the lights dimmed, they rose to slow dance with one another. Dancing was dancing and they were open to trying different styles when given a chance. Elmire partnered with Luke. He was a perfect gentlemen, never stumbling or treading on her toes.

She rated the experience a solid 9 out of 10 or even 10 out of 10, but she couldn’t help but wonder if dancing with Brett would be much better, something like a 10,000 out of 10 and break the scale.

That thought shocked her even though it had originated in her head and made perfect sense. She was closer with him than she was with Luke, so why wouldn’t dancing with him be amazing when they both loved it so much? There was nothing weird to her about looking forward to it or involuntarily smiling so hard that her cheeks hurt, especially since she still pulled off appearing normally happy instead of spectacularly so.

His hand around hers felt really nice.

This was definitely off the charts and better than a run-of-the-mill 10 out of 10 experience.

Elmire wished she could freeze time and dance until dawn. Fun had her feeling immune to exhaustion. They 100% needed to do this again. She wanted to waltz with him in a grand ballroom, moving gracefully across its wooden floor under elegant lights. Too bad that couldn’t happen now or that they couldn’t even continue exactly as they were.

When the music picked up in speed and volume again, she shot him a mischievous look. Surely, the pair of them wouldn’t stop dancing together because the time for slow dancing was over. They could easily change to match the music.

Brett wordlessly agreed.

If she didn’t know herself as well as she did, she’d think she’d fallen for him.

A few minutes before 11 o’clock, the Spring Formal Court was announced. Britany won jester. At promptly 11, before they could celebrate Britany’s win, everyone was rushed out. Elmire was invited to an after party—as much as she still wanted to dance until dawn, she knew that she shouldn’t. She had to rest and prepare for her piano performances, so she settled for lingering in the school’s gardens for a bit and taking pictures with her friends.

Everyone left for the after party, except Elmire, who wasn’t going, and Brett, who wanted to spend more time with her. He offered to take more photos. Elmire tried to pose naturally, but he didn’t know how to use his phone well and he also kept making her laugh.

Unfortunately, it was time for her to go home.

As they were leaving, his hand brushed against hers. Holding his hand earlier had been really nice and she found herself wondering if she should tell him, “I have a crush on you,” which was another shocking thought. Did she actually have a crush on him!?!? If she did and if there was no changing that, she would make her move and ask him out.

Unfortunately, things were less pleasant at the Fiers’ home in San Myshuno. While Asher was changing Evander’s diaper, Evander had an explosive accident … It wasn’t a big deal, but it needed some cleaning up.

After Evander had a bath and tried some new food, he was in a much better mood. Asher was fine too.

But, unfortunately, Evander was still a gassy little baby, so Adelise changed his diapers with care. She could handle any mess without any problems, but Liliana insisted on standing by in case there was another explosion.

Luckily, it was all good.

At bed time, he went to sleep in his mother’s room despite having a crib in the nursery.

Extras/Author’s Notes:

• The video below represents photos and videos from Brett’s phone taken during the Spring Formal. Please remember that Brett has shaky camera skills. 😅 He also doesn’t do a great job of capturing the entire event, but focused on just one aspect and recorded videos when photos were expected.

• Regarding Dominic taking Elmire’s seat, he did do that. I suppose she just wasn’t fast enough at sitting down. I’m still not sure why he doesn’t seem to get along well with others. He should be fine and a friend, but there’s always some kind of minor issue with him.
• I used poses for some of the times during which my Sims were taking photos in game.
