Dysis’ Graduation

Dysis was feeling a bit down. On one hand, she was glad her father wanted to help with her university coursework. On the other, she wasn’t glad because (as far as Dysis knew) he had never tried to help her sister, Deli, with her work. It was true that Deli was a perfectly competent perfectionist who had only seen one grade (A+) throughout her entire academic career, but Dysis still wished that her father had the same confidence in her that he seemed to have in Deli and the other vampires.

But maybe she was reading way too much into nothing. Her father seemed to be in everyone’s business these days and she couldn’t say for sure whether he’d been in Deli’s or not. And even if he hadn’t been that didn’t necessarily mean he thought less of Dysis. Not wanting to obsess over illogical things, Dysis meditated, worked through her troubling thoughts and felt better.

She was exhausted the day of graduation. Her degree was something she’d worked hard for and she’d stayed up late the day before wrapping things up.

In three terms, while maintaining a social life, she managed to achieve

An A- GPA. Not perfect, but still worth celebrating. And you know what they say? Ds get degrees! But Dysis did significantly better than a D average and also landed a job. She’d be starting at level 8 as a Hedge Fund Manager at a fancy firm. So she straightened up.

After attending her graduation ceremony and getting her picture taken, she took a moment to celebrate outside with her classmates.

At home, her family threw a small, chill rooftop party to congratulate both Deli and Dysis on their graduations.

Deli prepared kava, while Dawn helped the DJ prep.

A handful of family and friends were invited: all of the girls’ older siblings, Dawn and Dysis’ boyfriends, Deli’s crush Cabe because …, Zachary and a few other family friends.

Deli sat down to talk with Cabe. She was still super into him, so she couldn’t resist. Instead of thanking her for hosting a party or congratulating her on her graduation, when no one else was paying attention he told her that getting her university degree was a silly waste of time because she’d already had a job when she enrolled and it wasn’t going to change. Besides, he knew more about marine biology as a lifeguard.

This was the moment when Deli finally realized that Cabe was vile (mean, actually) and not going to change, so she went inside. She didn’t want to cause a scene. There were other “un-nice” people around and there didn’t need to be any confrontations.

Inside, Deli found good, but slightly younger company. She ended up having a great conversation with her sister and Zachary.

Meanwhile, Dysis and her boyfriend were also enjoying the evening with some public (but not too public thanks to a large hat brim) displays of affection.

And the nursery was almost ready for baby #17. Adelise and Asher didn’t expect to have any more vampires as they were rare and four had already been born, but just in case, they had a prenatal scan of the baby. The results were as expected, baby #17 would be human. Not even a millisecond was spent in disappointment.

    Ooooh! I’ve reached the last chapter of the generation, haven’t I? =O

    Aw, Dysis, but Deli -is- different from you. She’s a vampire that never needs to sleep and barely needs to take care of her physical needs, while you’re a human. Of course she can get more done than you in the same time period. To compare that is just unfair on poor Dysis, but I understand why she’d draw that comparison. She did great.

    Deli still being into Cabe in spite of his awful character and constant negging oh my gods 😵 Yes, drop him Deli! Drop him like a hot, stinky potato! Zachary seems like a much better pick, if only as a new friend to get to know.

      You’ve read so much! Thank you and thanks for the comment. This isn’t really an end as much as it is a beginning. I decided to change the numbering with the birth of the 5th generation because it would go on forever otherwise. The fourth generation (or at least some of them) aren’t really going anywhere. The focus will shift a little, but then it will shift back. 5th generation came a bit early because Adelise and Asher are on good terms and I wasn’t paying attention. ^^;

      Cabe is “cute,” so Sims like him even though he’s mean. It’s a game but I feel like that’s such a human thing. He’s “attractive” and he can be fun (it’s not like he’s mean 100% of the time), so Deli was hopeful and gave him more chances… But his traits won’t magically change and every time I see him, ugh.

      Great points about Deli/Dysis. I think that sometimes even if a person is working hard and legitimately doing extremely well, it can be hard to recognize that when there’s someone else who is or seems to be doing better. It must be hard to have a sibling who doesn’t sleep because even if you love them and know that you shouldn’t compare yourself with them, it’s got to be tempting. But regardless people have worth outside of school/grades/jobs/etc. 🙂

        Haha, I see 😂 babies do have a habit of sneaking up on you like that. I do wonder how other games keep doing that – my sims never do more than flirt autonomously when I’m not paying attention.

        Too true – people are willing to overlook so much if the person is attractive and aren’t awful in every interaction. Hopefully Deli knows to stay away for good this time. And hopefully she doesn’t fall into a void after graduation because she suddenly has no school work to throw herself at anymore. Unless she just switches that over to throwing herself at her job. Hmm… 🤔

    I can’t believe Aster got cheated on ;-; She’s right though, Deli doesn’t need to rush, there’s always time, and plenty of fish in the sea- even if not all of those fish are vampires : P Aster did the right thing calling out corruption. Of course the corrupt people would get her blacklisted. They want her to tell the truth, but not too much, of course. -.- I’m now wondering who K. Vatore was. Ohh so Asher turned Caleb back mortal? That’s an interesting revelation. I really feel for Deli and her fears for the future and feeling more isolated. I felt like Asher wouldn’t fully understand what Deli wanted and why though. I also guessed Asher wouldn’t be good with downsizing, the new mansion looks amazing!
    EEk, the spice festival. The others burn their mouths out, and Deli gets a nice burn from the Sun instead XC I’m wondering if Deli will come to regret her decision to become a stronger vampire. She seemed for a while like she’d rather not be one at all and I wonder if she’ll come back to that later. Ooh new baby on the way! I was gonna say the age gap is going to be huge, then I realise they are probably all used to it XD I love the way Zachary is met, with an accidental photobomb. Also that office is fancy! I’m glad that Dysis can see that Asher seems to treat Deli differently to the others.
    Also DELI DROP CABE, HE IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME I PROMISE YOU ;-;
    Excited for the arrival of the new baby!

      Thanks for the lengthy comment! 🙂
      Yes, the age gaps are huge and awkward…, but they can’t be helped in a family like this.
      I agree with all of your observations, especially about Deli. If I were her, I would be weary of going to Asher for advice too. He’s not good at understanding other people’s feelings.
