Dealing with Dimwits

Elmire was bullied at school.

Elmire's school called Asher to tell him, "Some other kid threatened Elmire and took her lunch money. She has been crying in the office." He responded, "Find the kid. Or I will."

When she returned home, her father wanted to see her in his office.

Asher: Everyone who bothers you at school is a single-digit IQ dimwit dodo. Never think you deserve to be disrespected. You are not and will never be a dimwit, so you should not think like them. Understand you’re great and keep your head up.

Elmire: Okay.

Asher thought they were idiots (dimwits) because messing with his child was not something anyone with any sense would ever do. Even if they didn’t know about him, they should have known that ignorance was dangerous. Thank goodness the school called him to take care of this instead of his wife because he would definitely take care of it as soon as he found out who the parents were… He momentarily and silently fantasized about how delicious setting things straight would be. Regardless, his daughter would not feel unsafe at school again.

Of course, Asher had more to say.

Asher: Tell them to (#$@)*$%)@*#@ %)(@)#( *#)%@)*# )(#%)%.

Elmire: 😯

Asher continued. He told her she should do whatever she wanted to any bullies. Hit them. Kick them. Bite them. Lie. He would defend her completely. He would delete them.

That didn’t sound quite right to her, so when he asked about who the bully was, Elmire told him she didn’t know and that she was okay. It had been some much older, bigger kid—not someone in her class. It wasn’t okay, though. She’d been scared, threatened, robbed, and she’d cried in front of other people at school. Just thinking about it made her want to cry again. She wasn’t sure about what to do next. The bully had gotten in trouble, but had he been reformed? She didn’t know, but she did know she wanted to try standing up for herself in her own way because her dad sometimes didn’t feel the same way she did about the difference between “far enough” and “way too far.” Elmire didn’t want anything really bad to happen to anyone.

Still, Asher made her feel better and laugh with some of the things he said.

Elmire’s friends, Brett and Britany, visited and cheered her up further. They played games and then danced, delighting in their common love for music.

Elmire tried to suss out what cards Brett had from his tone and expression, but couldn’t quite figure him out.

Her struggle made sense. Brett’s unique expressions were hard to read.

Fun facts about Brett and Britany: Brett has a sizeable crush on Elmire’s older sister, Delmarya, and Britany is a relative. She’s Asher’s great-granddaughter.

That evening, the fourth generation Fiers (Dawn, Dysis, Darius, and Dyna) and their partners also came to visit. Deli was really excited about her boyfriend coming over.

Cheers.

While most were in the music room, Rashad, Dysis’ husband, joined Adelise in the kitchen for tomato soup and sandwiches. Rashad was more than happy to eat anything Adelise prepared and he wanted to ask her about toys. He wasn’t a parent yet, but he wanted to get advice from other parents beforehand. Oddly enough, he never asked Asher about anything child-related…

Later, Deli (perhaps feeling a bit bad about how she’d slighted her youngest sister earlier) invited Elmire to join her and the rest of Elmire’s older siblings outside, which improved Elmire’s mood even further. She wasn’t a dimwit! Her IQ had more than a single digit and she was cool enough to have been invited to sit and talk with the adults, even if they were just her brothers and sisters.

It became late, so Elmire left to “go to bed.” In reality, she went straight to Cocoa, to do her favorite thing and reflect on a confusing day before sleeping.

Darius and Dysis also rose. They weren’t necessarily going home, but they wanted to give the couple some alone time.

Just as Zach and Deli were getting comfortable, Asher joined them. Zach rose to greet him. It was awkward, but Asher didn’t stay long.

It wasn’t like he didn’t have something he wanted to do.

Deli loved that her pajamas matched Zach’s: glasses, shorts, and a shirt with minimal sleeves. For the record, Deli didn’t need glasses to help her see. She used them to comfort herself as one might use a blanket or stuffed animal. As a child, she’d been enamored by a character called Kal-El. When Kal-El wore glasses, people thought he was a normal guy (instead of a superhuman alien) and they called him Mr. Kent. Thus, even though it was childish, when Deli started high school, she modeled herself after Kal-El and wore glasses. Did they change how anyone saw anything? Probably not, but they made her feel safer. People thought that she was a (relatively) normal girl. Some teachers even called her Ms. Fier. No one noticed that puberty had changed her into someone who craved plasma and could only spend the briefest of moments in the sun.

Regardless, when Deli slept, she liked to sleep with things that comforted her like her glasses and blue blankets, and in a slightly different sense, with …

Asher is going to EAT whoever messed with his Elmire. Literally. He is going to eat them and use their bones as toothpicks. I pity the fool who crossed his child.
I DIED when he told Elmire to relay his profanity message. Asher would be great as bully-repellant. Have a kid that’s being bullied? Send in Asher! Seriously, he would make a KILLING in that field. More money to burn!!!

I love how very pure/wholesome the family dynamic is. When their daughter is bullied, they invite friends over so she can have a better day. It was very sweet that Elmire’s older siblings included her, and she seemed to feel so loved.

Haha. Yes, Asher has an appetite for questionable things. Elmire’s fortunate in that all of her siblings really like her. She’s the baby of the family. I love your comments. They always make me laugh.

I do not understand why the game always gives the Sims glasses on for their nightwear? I think it’s silly but luckily it sounds like Deli is approving of this.

There is a big contrast in the two pictures where Asher kisses the money and Deli kisses Zach. Everyone must follow their desires It’s hilarious 😅

Thanks for the comment! Haha. With Asher, I felt a bit bad for organizing the pictures like that. He looks so ridiculous.

I think maybe the Sims team added glasses because many Americans take their contacts out and wear glasses at night when they put on their sleepwear. At least, Deli doesn’t mind Zach’s townie style.

I usually don’t agree with Asher’s grandiose way of raising his kids, but this time, I am 100% in his corner. Bullying is never solved by being passive, and the person being bullied should never be made to feel like they deserved it. Ending a kid’s life over bullying is going a little far, Asher, but Elmire should absolutely be allowed to defend herself. Asher is a good dad where it matters.

Aww, Brett having a kid crush on Delmarya is adorable. The story behind Deli’s glasses is very cute, too. Zach and her seem to be getting along famously. In multiple senses of the word. 😆

I agree with not agreeing with Asher’s parenting style most of the time, but sometimes having someone who is very strongly in your corner is just what’s needed. 🙂

I meant to imply more that he would address the bully’s parents than the bully themselves, but if Elmire asked him to do something to the kid as well, I’m sure he would…

I’m not sure if he’s overall a good dad where it matters, but he really does seem okay-ish now and he tries. He may have some ironic fairly big/red flag screw-ups coming… but maybe not.

‘Dealing with Dimwits’ should be my job title!
That ‘Lunch with Sadness’ response is SO unbelievably Asher I love it XD At least he’s protective of his family though. I imagine it’s hard to tell your kid how to deal with bullies really. You don’t want them to grow up and get walked all over, but you also don’t necessarily want them to fight back and risk getting hurt. Although Asher’s heart is in the right place as a protective father, I think his ‘slap a bitch’ advice won’t go down terribly well in the long run. We don’t want Elmire to deal with absolutely everyone that way… Self-defence is one thing but, you get me I hope XD

I love the pic of Asher kissing the money, and I’m glad Elmire has good friends at such a young age < 3

Oh no. I hope the “dimwits” at your job are at least amusing. Otherwise, it sounds unpleasant. When the Lunch with Sadness popup appeared, I was so annoyed (because why are they bothering my Sim?!) I didn’t notice how much of an Asher response it was. XD I love how you describe his advice on bullying! You have a great point, it is actually really hard to tell kids how to deal with bullies because there’s so much to balance: standing up for oneself, avoiding being hurt, avoiding becoming a bully… In the long run, it’s not clear how his advice will go down and he’ll probably supplement it with more advice, but Elmire will have to figure out what to do with it as part of growing up.

I am so late with this reply. Yikes, but thanks so much for the comment. I’ll try to keep screenshot order in mind in the future too.
